The island of Sumatra in Indonesia continues to be one of the most popular coffee growing areas among specialty coffees enthusiasts. Eon is pleased to offer coffee from the Gayo Mountain region located in Takengon, Sumatra. The beans are grown at altitudes ranging from 3,200 to 6,000 feet and organically certified by SKAL to bring an organic Sumatra Arabica to market.
Coffee from the Gayo Mountain is semi-washed in the tradition of Sumatra. The fruit is removed from the beans while still fresh. After a quick fermentation and washing to release any bit of the residual fruit, the beans are dried and ready for export. The green beans are very fresh and clean.
We offer this coffee as a dark roast. The result is a full bodied coffee with low acidity, which has a delicately sweet taste with a touch of earthiness overlying pleasant smokiness.
We like this coffee served black as a filter brew to best emphasize the earthy and smoky notes.
